Holden Hurricane is a concept with 40 years of experience
If you think that Holden Hurricane is just another old junk, you are so wrong …
Concept Holden Hurricane (codenamed by RD 001) appeared long-ago in 1969, so what made us remember about it now? Firstly, despite the fact that the car did not become a serial you can safely assume the Australian classic (not like the Lancia Stratos, but still it is). Secondly, the “Hurricane” was so much ahead of its time (for example, carburetor installed on the concept went to the masses only in the late ’70s), that a number of ideas have been realized and are relevant today. Thirdly, the car has an interesting original design.
I think it’s these reasons is sufficient that in 2006 the guys from Holden began to restore the Hurricane. So what this car presents us today?
Under the hood of the Holden Hurricane settled V8 with volume of 4.2 liters and 262 hp of capacity. It seems to be not very much, but for a vintage car it is just right as for my taste!
The body of the concept was made of fiberglass and painted in orange metallic. There are no doors in the conventional sense of this word. The whole upper part of the car is lifted hydraulically (see the screenshot). For some reason this construction reminded me the immortal spacecraft from «Star Wars».
Among other pieces, I would pick a rearview camera, air conditioner that maintains optimum temperature in the cabin and suitable retro-electronics.
